Last Mod Last Sem

Greetings,

And so, ladies and gentlemen, thus begins the last module I will ever write about in NUS for my undergraduate life.

SW2104. Human development over the lifespan. I needed one last elective and heard that this was a relatively easy mod hence decided to take it.

The lecturer apparently has been teaching this mod for many many years, and social work majors speak of him even after they complete the module. He is quite the funny prof. But he's funny not because his jokes are funny, like funny funny. Instead, it is because his jokes are bordering whimsical and outrageous - to the extent you cant help but laugh at it's seeming nonsensical nature. He sometimes tries to draw to make a point or teach a theory. More often than not it ends up being comical because I do not understand his drawing at all.

What I enjoyed the most about the module was that it gives you a nice perspective to life. From birth to death, what characterises each segment of life, why certain stereotypes of people exist and the truth behind them. When I see people young or old, I can appreciate them for who they are better. It helps broach uncomfortable topics and puts it in perspective for me as a listener. For example, the topic on old age and death. For us youngsters, this is simply far away. The thought that one day we would grow old and experience all the changes in the body is quite distant. Yet, it will come one day. It doesn't mean we are to be afraid, but we are equipped to know how best to respond to the changes when they occur.

Assessment wise, no mid terms, 65% or something close rests on the finals, which consists of a whole bunch of mcq and an essay. Honestly, it's anyone's ball game. I have absolutely no idea how I will do for the mod. I can't even give an indication, like for eg in the B+ range. Nope. The 35% continual assessment is from the tutorials, I presume accumulated through class participation and the projects. To be honest, being the last module, I do intend to SU it, hence have little ownership over the project and how it turned out. Still, I had a good group that was hardworking.

Yup. This marks the end, then.

Toodles! I might update if I get my results haha.

Have a good holiday!

RRR
