German 1

Greetings Freunden,

I have just realised that I did miss out writing about German 1 last semester (yes it is a new one already). So I am just going to type out real quick my thoughts, because it is time to move to a new semester.

Hands down my most favourite module last semester. I've heard people complaining about oh how languages are really hard to score and what not. I don't deny it is not easy to score. Lots of hard work is needed in understanding and appreciating the language. Lessons are highly interactive and you get to dirty your hands trying to speak it and communicate with it.

Expect multiple pieces of homework weekly, though they vary in length from a 10 minute piece to perhaps an hour. Expect frequent vocabulary tests. They are annoying but I strongly believe necessary to help grasp the essentials of the foreign language.

The good thing about German in particular is that it is rather similar to English. Hence if you are reading this blog, there is a chance you would not fall flat clueless if you step into a German speaking country. What added to my experience in the course was my previous exchange trip to London. Granted it was not Germany, but I did spend a good few days travelling and immersing myself into the German culture (And Austrian).

While I hoped for an A, I eventually got an A-, which I am not the least disappointed.

Viele Grüße

I leave you with some treats: Pictures of Berlin and Vienna when I was there last year.
